Meet the Haz Pack: Hazardous Chemicals You Should Avoid in Your Home

If there’s anything 2020 has taught us, it’s that life is too short for anything toxic in your life.

Unfortunately, many cleaning products get the job done, but they can also secretly (and sometimes not so secretly) cause a lot of harm.

At Lemi Shine, we work hard to give you a crazy effective clean free from hazardous chemicals. While there are many more, the Haz Pack are some of the most harmful chemicals used in common household cleaners. And trust us, you’ll want to stay far, far away from these guys.

1. Bleach

We get it. You want serious cleaning power that kicks germs where the sun doesn't shine. But here’s why you shouldn’t rely on bleach. This powerful basic is corrosive to your lungs and skin. Plus, it can release toxic chlorine gas if mixed with other chemicals.

Bottom line: The dangerous side effects of bleach just aren’t worth it, especially when there are safe and effective alternatives (we’ll get to that soon).

2. Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is best known for its use in mortuaries. Less known? It’s a carcinogen that can cause skin irritation, coughing, wheezing, nausea, and burning sensation in the eyes and nose.

4. Ammonia

Sure, household cleaners typically don’t contain concentrated amounts of ammonia, but it can still cause severe eye injuries and burns. Worst case scenario, it can even trigger seizures. And trust us, there are much better ways to disinfect surfaces (i.e. our Multi-Surface Antibacterial Spray).

4. Quats

We have some tea to spill.

Quats are added to common household cleaning products like disinfecting wipes to kill germs. What you probs don't know is that they can also cause dermatitis, asthma, and reproductive problems. Read more about why quats are not all that here.
